How to play Clues & Lies

Objective records are true. Benign speakers tell the truth; malevolent speakers lie. Use the visible evidence to prove each verdict without guessing.

How the evidence works

Objective records are true. Benign people make true claims; malevolent people make false claims. Combine the visible evidence to prove each identity without guessing.

  1. Read the objective record.
  2. Test each testimony through its speaker.
  3. Submit only a verdict forced by the visible evidence.
  4. Prove every identity to close the case.

Progressive mode opens evidence packets as you solve identities. All open shows the full record from the start.

Worked example: overlapping count clues

A claim is tested through its speaker.

If someone says “the gardener and clockmaker share an identity,” the two must match when the speaker is benign and differ when the speaker is malevolent.
